HISTORY OF SCHRODT ART STUDIO

Schrodt Art Studio, Inc. was founded in 1975 by Mary Louise Schrodt.  Known for her ability to teach oil painting to anyone of any skill level, she acquired a loyal following of students and a long waiting list.  Daughter Judy Warren began her career with Schrodt Art Studio in 1993 and gradually took over the studio after receiving her degree in art from the University of Louisville four years later.  In order to ensure a low student to teacher ratio, Judy has several assistants, including Susan Cutchins, an employee of Schrodt for over twenty years.  Together they work to provide a place where beginning and seasoned artists alike can create and grow in the field of art.

Oil painting classes, popular with men and women of all ages, cover basic skills of art, such as perspective, composition and value, while cultivating good observation skills.  A practical approach to painting, using proven, teachable methods, are suitable for beginners and advanced students alike.

Classes meet weekly for three-hour sessions. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning classes meet from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and a Tuesday evening class is offered from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

The year is divided into four sessions, but students can begin and end instruction at any time.  The average length of each session is twelve or thirteen weeks.

Oil painting supplies are available for sale at the studio. Beginner kits include all the art supplies needed to get started and may be ordered in advance by newcomers.
