Schrodt Art Studio, Inc. was founded in 1975 by Mary Louise Schrodt. Known for her ability to teach oil painting to anyone of any skill level, she acquired a loyal following of students and a long waiting list. Her own oil paintings have been exhibited nationally and are well known in the Louisville community, particularly her series of St. Matthews storefronts and her trompe l'oeils of everyday objects such as soda machines, phone booths and fire hoses.
Daughter Judy Warren began her career at Schrodt Art Studio in 1994 and gradually took over the studio after receiving her degree in art from the University of Louisville four years later. She keeps traditions such as biennial art shows and field trips and continues to cultivate the format of solid teaching in an atmosphere of fun.
